Application development & software solutions

Custom software for the way your business actually works.

PortalPoint designs and builds applications for small and mid-sized businesses: Windows software, Android and web apps, and the integrations that connect them to the tools you already use. The developer who scopes your project writes the code, ships it and supports it afterwards.

  • Fixed price for the first release
  • You own the code
  • Supported after launch

What we build

Software for the work off-the-shelf tools leave undone.

We take each project through design, build, release and support, and the same person is accountable for all four.

Custom business software

Job tracking, quoting, scheduling, inventory, approvals: software shaped around how your team already works, designed with the people who will use it every day.

  • Line-of-business and internal apps
  • Windows desktop software that works offline
  • Replacements for overloaded spreadsheets

Mobile and web apps

Android apps, web apps and customer portals that work on the phone in someone's pocket as well as the browser on their desk.

  • Android apps
  • Web apps and customer portals
  • Private by design, with no tracking

Integrations and APIs

Your new software talks to the systems you already pay for, including QuickBooks, Microsoft 365, RepairShopr and payment providers, so nothing is typed in twice.

  • Accounting and billing sync
  • APIs, webhooks and data pipelines
  • Migration off aging systems

Support after launch

Releases, fixes, security updates and new features for as long as you want them. You keep the source code and the documentation.

  • Updates and bug fixes
  • New features as the business changes
  • Source code handed over

Our work

We designed, wrote and ship a full business suite.

PortalPoint Desktop is a business operations suite for Windows that keeps every record on a computer in your office. It covers service desk, billing, sales, inventory, point of sale and more, each one a module you licence once and own outright.

We wrote it after building the same connectors and the same ticket queue for several clients. It is the standard we hold client software to: it works offline, its modules share one set of records, it syncs with QuickBooks, and your data stays yours.

Client builds

Tools built for clients

Internal apps, connectors and automations for businesses whose work did not fit the software they had, from QuickBooks sync to job and ticket tracking.

  • Internal tools on the client's own data

How we work

A project in four stages.

At every point you will know which stage we are in, what it costs and what you get at the end of it.

Discover

We meet the people who will use the software and write down how the work gets done today and what it should do instead.

Design and scope

You get a written proposal with the screens, what is in and out of scope, and a fixed price for the first release.

Build in short cycles

You get a working version early and a new one every week or two, tested on your real data by the people who will use it.

Launch and support

We install it, train your staff, document it and keep it maintained, so the software keeps up with the business.

Ask PortalLive on Workers AI
Hi, I'm Portal. Ask me what PortalPoint builds, how a project works, or whether we can connect the tools you already use.

Ask Portal

A small AI assistant, set up the way we set them up for clients.

Portal answers questions about PortalPoint using the same kind of small, narrowly scoped model we deploy for clients. It is cheap to run, it says when it does not know something, and it is not in charge of anything.

We can build a feature like this into your app, for sorting an inbox or drafting replies. If AI does not suit the job, we will tell you.

Start a project

Tell us what you want to build.

A few sentences is enough to start: what the software should do, who will use it and what it has to connect to. We will reply with any questions, and the first conversation is free.

Good fits
Businesses running on spreadsheets and email, teams using software that almost fits, and anyone with an app idea who needs a developer to build it and keep it running.
We will not add you to a newsletter or a sales sequence.
